Decision Before Dawn
WWII has reached its conclusion: Germany is in ruins but refuses to surrender. The US army is in desperate need of intelligence on German units operating on the other side of the Rhine and chooses to deploy two German prisoners to acquire information. The scheme is dangerous: the Gestapo maintains an extremely effective network for identifying and apprehending spies and deserters. Additionally, it is unclear whether "Tiger," who is unconcerned with filthy work as long as the pay is right, and war-weary "Happy," who may be easily betrayed by his emotions, are trustworthy agents. After successfully infiltrating Tiger and another American agent, Happy is parachuted into Bavaria. His mission: ascertain the location of a large German armored force advancing toward the western front.
